Meet Our Programs Coordinator

Community members,

As a first-generation college student from a low socio-economic background, I have a keen understanding of the fears and uncertainties students feel as they ponder, plan, and embark on their futures. I can personally attest to the importance of support systems and knowing there are people who believe in you. Throughout my educational journey there were key people who invested in me and my future, and I am forever grateful.  This is why I started my career as a school counselor and am so passionate about education.

I am humbled to now be in a position to assist students, on an even greater scale, in gaining the necessary tools to reach their full potential and contribute positively to society. The San Marcos Promise is a foundation that supports all students through the process of career awareness, exploration and development.  Through a variety of programs and resources, we help prepare and empower students to choose, with intention, a higher education pathway suited to their individual strengths, interests, and values. We look beyond the traditional four-year college model to ask how we can equip all students with the necessary skills to thrive in the 21st century workforce and embark on a meaningful and gratifying career.

Please join us in helping to ensure all students graduate college and career ready, prepared to thrive in the 21st century workforce.  Through a recurring monthly contribution or by volunteering your time and expertise, your support will allow us to change the trajectory of students’ lives and make a lasting impact on our local economy.

Lisa Stout

This scholarship support is made possible through the generosity of Toni and Lee Leichtag, of blessed memory, founders of the Leichtag Foundation. During their lives, Toni and Lee were proud members of San Diego’s North County community. Both were raised in poverty and neither graduated from college. Though they became successful in business without formal education, guided by their Jewish values, they believed that achieving an education was the pathway to a better life. It was this belief that led them to support the PACE Promise scholarships for college.
